The player could also have said “two, three, four”, which means that they skip a person, so the next player to go would be the next but one to the right. Or they can say “two, three” which switches the direction, so the player to their left will be next to go. The player to the right (or left) can then say either “two”, which means the player to the right of them is next to go.
